Clement Windows
Newsletter: December 2022
Welcome to the Clement December newsletter, the last one in what has been another very busy year!
As you probably know, our forte is sensitively replacing original metal windows and doors with replicas which offer a much improved specification. An example of how beautiful our replacement steel windows and doors can look in a conservation project is shown above. This wonderful Grade II listed barn renovation in West Sussex, for which we manufactured new bespoke SMW windows and W20 doors, has been sympathetically transformed by the new owners. You can read more of the story later.
Clement was thrilled to be chosen by Drax to manufacture the new steel windows for a number of power stations in Scotland. This included Bonnington & Stonebyres which together form the Lanark Hydro Electric Scheme. Both buildings are category 'A' Listed, the highest possible grading, and are regarded as sites of national architectural importance. More information is below, including a link to the case study.
We offer two profiles of our conservation rooflights to ensure easy installation and a flush fit, whatever your roof type. This worked well for Grade II listed Stapehill Abbey in Dorset where they have a mixture of both tile and slate roofs. We supplied a large number of rooflights for the homes there in both profiles. You can read more below.
Last month, for the seventh year in a row, we sponsored the Small Project of the Year Award (up to to £5m) at the Building Awards. The award was presented by Clement Executive Chairman, Michael Haan, at the annual ceremony held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. Visit our news page here to see the full story.
In 2023 we will present our popular RIBA CPD Providers Hour seminar, 'Steel Windows: A New Generation' on 24th March at 9.30 am, 15th May at 12.00 pm, 15th September at 9.30 am and 20th November at 12.00 pm. You may like to add the dates to your diary or let us know if you would like us to send you the sign up link nearer the time. We will also send the booking links out on our social channels before each event.
Please note our offices will be closed over the Christmas break from 5.00 pm on 23rd December, reopening on 3rd January.
We would like thank you for your custom over the last year and to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

It was a privilege to manufacture new bespoke steel windows and doors for this West Sussex barn conversion which is over six hundred years old! The clients are really pleased with the result: "We love how the Clement windows have helped bring our old barn back to life! They look so in keeping with the historic building, but are contemporary enough to allow modern living."
The Clement W20 steel window range with genuine T bars was chosen to replace the existing windows at Bonnington and Stonebyres Power Stations. Clement manufactured around 120 steel windows for the projects, including nearly 400 individual fixed lights. The enormous green, curved head windows which you can see here on both sides of the building at Bonnington look spectacular and let in masses of natural light.
Developers Ankers and Rawlings chose Clement Conservation Rooflights for one of their latest projects, Grade II listed Stapehill Abbey in Dorset. This impeccably restored estate includes 45 two to five bedroom homes. Ankers & Rawlings wanted to retain the original features as much as possible and ensure everything was in keeping with the character of the original buildings.
