Clement Windows Group were sponsors for the seventh year of the Small Project of the Year Award (up to to £5m) at this year’s Building Awards.
The Radley College Extension by Beard, Ridge & Partners and Purcell won the award, which was presented by Clement Executive Chairman, Michael Haan, at the annual ceremony held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
Few projects have required as wide a range of craftsmen as this highly complex one to extend Radley College’s chapel in Oxfordshire. The project saw the Grade II* Listed Building, which was inspired by Renaissance architecture and crafted in stone and brick in 1893, extended and increased in capacity. Beard Contractors in conjunction with Architect Purcell and Quantity Surveyor Ridge & Partners enlarged the east end of the chapel to create a new sanctuary, with four small apses extending to the north and the south. Much of the work was done by hand by expert craftspeople.
Entertainment at this year’s awards event was provided by The London Community Gospel Choir, Jazzbomb and the very funny Jimmy Carr who also presented the awards.
