Case Study: Central Arcade - Leeds
Project Synopsis: New shopping Arcade in Leeds fitted with Clement EB24 windows
Situated on Briggate, the popular pedestrianised shopping street in Leeds city centre, is Central Arcade. Scheduled for opening in 2013 the building underwent a complete refurbishment to house many retail outlets within its 1,000,000 sqft of space.
The refurb included replacing all the windows on both the front and rear elevations of the building. The first, second and third floor windows needed to be replaced with windows that matched the original fenestration, installed in 1960 when the building was built. Only steel replacement windows to replicate the originals would suffice as the façade adjoins neighbouring historic buildings within a Conservation Area. These are very significant architecturally in the centre of the city. Clement EB24 steel windows with multi point locking were chosen, due to their slim sight lines, enhanced security and increased thermal performance.
The majority of the front elevation windows included spandrel panels, ceramic tiled infill panels painted in RAL 9004 Black, all supplied and installed by Clement.
