We have had the pleasure of working with Rachel Macgadie at RM Designs before, and we know that whenever we work with her, the result is always going to be a very cool, visually stunning project!
This time was no exception.
When the designer purchased her 1930s bungalow, it already had planning permission in place for demolition. However, she and her husband, both designers, saw the potential in the existing structure and had the vision to transform it rather than tear it down.
Work on the project commenced during the pandemic and, despite the inevitable challenges, the couple successfully delivered a comprehensive refurbishment. The interior was thoughtfully reconfigured to include a new cloakroom WC and utility room, while the front extension was re-clad and transformed into a striking open plan living, dining and kitchen area, providing a contemporary focal point for the home.
Rachel’s goal was ‘to be able to cook at the island while enjoying the rural views through expansive windows’ and this was achieved by incorporating a large six metre Clement door screen, using slim EB24 steel profiles. She commented: “It is a standout feature of the entire house and visitors are consistently drawn to the view and frequently compliment the windows.” Two single steel EB24 doors were also added to continue the theme and ensure maximum natural light.
Rachel said: “Clement Windows truly brought our vision for the front facade to life. The quality is exceptional, and the entire process was smooth and professional. We also appreciate the peace of mind that comes with Clement's great customer service”.
