March 31st, 2017

Clement conservation rooflight

Whether you are looking to renovate a period property, update your home or office, or transform a new space, creating the right amount of interior light is always a major consideration and a rooflight can often be crucial in enabling daylight to flood into a lower level room, an attic or even a peculiarly shaped corner.

Clement Conservation Rooflights have recently been awarded an A+ window energy rating by the British Fenestration Rating Council (BFRC), the premier UK authority for independently verified ratings of energy efficient windows and doors.  However, this is not the only benefit you receive when you choose one of our rooflights.

Fleet St

The open plan setting has long been celebrated in our homes with designers encouraging us to take doors off their hinges and combine smaller rooms to create one bigger multi-functional space.  But in recent years this trend has started to dissipate and there has been a noticeable shift towards so-called ‘broken plan’ living and a demand for flexible, more private, intimate spaces. Clement Windows at The Listed Property Show 2017

March 1st, 2017

Clement Windows Group recently exhibited at the Listed Property Show which took place at Olympia over the weekend of 18th and 19th February.

The show, which saw visitor numbers close to 7,500, gave owners of Listed Properties the opportunity to talk to 150 specialist suppliers and gain expert advice and information on all aspects of maintaining, altering and renovating a listed home.

Clement’s stand showcased examples of high specification metal window ranges suitable for Listed Properties or those in Conservation Areas, such as: the Standard Metal Window (SMW) ‘F’ series, a single glazed steel window used for sensitive replacement work where a precise geometric match is required; and, the Brooking steel framing system, designed for buildings with a traditional appearance which require a specialist ‘putty fronted’ system.

These steel window ranges not only look wonderful, but can help improve thermal and acoustic performance and maximise security, while still meeting the stringent requirements of Conservation Officers.

Clement Windows at The Listed Property Show 2017

A selection of Clement Conservation Rooflights, recently awarded an A+ window energy rating by the BFRC, were also on display and their good looks and low profile attracted many passers-by.  Available in two types for both slate and tile roofs, they are regularly specified by Conservation Officers for Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas.

Clement have a long-standing relationship with The Listed Property Owners Club and regularly appear in their publication, Listed Heritage magazine.  It was wonderful to have a presence at the show and to meet so many new faces as well as several satisfied former clients.

Steel Windows – Protecting Our Architectural Heritage

January 3rd, 2017

Genuine steel windows are being specified on a regular basis more frequently now than at any time during the last 30 years.  Architects, planning officers, designers and property owners are becoming increasingly aware of the many benefits that steel windows have to offer, not least their robust strength and stunning good looks.

This revival in the specification of original steel windows has its roots in the growing trend to restore and preserve the finest of our old buildings rather than demolish them and construct new ones.  Planning regulations in the UK concerning the protection of our architectural heritage are rigorous.  Indeed, they are seen worldwide as an example of how the best of the past can be conserved and found new uses for in the modern world.
